Using Latest Release to Benefit Local Charity

8/10/08—Dallas, TX: Robert James Luedke (of Flower Mound), the author and illustrator of the award-winning graphic novel series, Eye Witness, is teaming up with Titan Comics, Artlovemagic and Space Gun Studios to generate donations for the charity, Heroes 4 Heroes…who work directly with the United States Military to provide portable media/entertainment to troops stationed overseas.

This week marks the national release date of the third book in the Eye Witness series, Rise of the Apostle (www.headpress.info) and Luedke is using his Texas release party at Titan Comics, to generate visibility and donations for Heroes for Heroes. For every copy of Rise of the Apostle purchased, (or any of the Eye Witness books), Luedke will donate another copy to Heroes for Heroes.

In addition, everyone who brings in a donation for Heroes for Heroes during this event, will receive a FREE Eye Witness promotional poster, signed by Luedke and the painter of the poster, Dallas based artist David Rodriguez (www.artlovemagic.com). The poster is an exclusive only available at Luedke’s book signing appearances.

In addition to Luedke, the event will also feature the release and book signing for Dallas’ own, Space Gun Studio’s new anthology, Synesthetic, (www.myspace.com/space_gun)

Luedke and his Eye Witness series have been featured by such diverse media as: L.A Times, Associated Press, Washington Post, The Daily Oklahoman, The Tennessean, Fox News (DFW, NYC and 24+ affiliates nationally), CBS News (Dallas & San Diego), ABC News (Nashville & Tulsa), Family Net TV, the Salem-USA-Moody-Family Net radio networks, Publishers Weekly, Christianity Today, Wizard Magazine, Comic Buyers Guide, The Texas Baptist Standard and many more.

The second book in the series, (which creatively blends a modern day action-thriller with a Biblical adaptation), Eye Witness: Acts of the Spirit, was the winner in the category of comics/graphic novels at the 2007 Hollywood Book Festival, won a silver medal at the 2007 Independent Publisher Awards and was a finalist in FOREWORD Magazine’s 2007 Book of the year awards.

Heroes for Heroes (www.heroes4heroes.org) has been extremely effective in collecting donations from both the public and corporate America of entertainment materials such as: comic books, graphic novels, DVD’s, CD’s, books, magazines, MP3 players, games and gaming systems…and getting them into the hands of our troops stationed in the middle east. They’ve been so effective, in fact, that the Commanding General of the Multi-national forces in Iraq, General Patraeus, personally sent them a letter of a commendation and has had their packages distributed by his executive staffers!

Incredible Marvel = More Hulk

Marvel has donated another Incredible Hulk statue to H4H. We will be going to pick up the latest Jade Giant early next week. If anyone wants to help load him up let me know. Thanks again Marvel for you big heart and your Incredible Support of H4H and our troops.

Hulk Transport

I got word today from “Friend of H4H” Rick Royer that we have transport from Carswell Naval Air Field in Ft. Worth, TX lined up for the Hulk. The Hulk will be transported with a huge load of H4H care packets to Bahrain and then into Iraq. Thanks so much Rick for all of your hard work on helping us get the Hulk into Iraq!

Round Two with The Hulk

Today we picked up another Incredible Hulk statue and used overwhelming numbers of H4H volunteers to overcome. This is the third statue I have moved and I still can’t get over how massive this thing is! Marvel really did an awesome job with these statues. The sculpting detail and paints are amazing. This is truly something special and we can’t thank Marvel enough for donating. I know these statues are going to bring smiles to a lot of soldiers faces as well as some interesting pictures. Thanks Chris, Wynn, Paula, Clay and Andrew for all your help over the past two days. I am posting a couple of Paula Netherland’s great pics today and will be posting all of them on flickr soon.

H4H Takes on The Incredible Hulk and Wins!

Today we picked up one of the Incredible Hulk statues that Marvel has donated to us. As you can see from the pictures Hulk is huge! He stands 8′6 and is 6′6 accross. Chris Mettler, Clay Tuttle and Wynn Netherland all took time out of their day to come out and help me move this green giant. We will be shipping the statue to Freedom Rest, an R&R facility in Iraq. We hope the troops will get a big kick out of it.

Microsoft donates Xb0x 360’s

I got word today from Alex Muse that Microsoft has donated 20 Xbox 360’s! These Xbox’s will be going to R&R facilities in Iraq and USO Hospitality Suites in the States. You have to love a company like Microsoft who gives so generously to our troops. Go out and buy an Xbox 360 and some games to support this great American company.

Marvel is Incredible!

It seems Marvel has a heart as big as the Incredible Hulk! I got word from a good friend of mine, Alex Muse, that Marvel will be donating two Hulk statues to H4H. We will be sending the statues out to our brave men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think the soldiers on R&R will get a big kick out of seeing these nine foot tall statues and taking some cool pics with them. I would like to thank Marvel very much for the donation. It means a lot to our soldiers knowing that companies like Marvel care enough about them and morale to do this. I would like to thank Alex Muse and David Collins especially for making all this happen.

Top cow donates 30,000 comics for troops

The volunteers at H4H were shocked to hear from Top Cow so soon after their large donation last year – but this time, they are donating by the tonnage! Filip Sablik, Marc Silvestri, Matt Hawkins and all the fine men and women at Top Cow Productions have given over 30,000 comic book issues to Heroes4Heroes to ship out and distribute. We are currently planning our biggest packing party yet! On behalf of our troops receiving your donation and our overall cause, thank you, Top Cow, very, very much!

Letter from the General!

We received a letter this week from Commanding General, Multi-National Force, Iraq. What a great honor it was to receive this letter from Gen. Petraeus and to know that our packets are making a difference for our soldiers. I have posted a .pdf of the letter if you would like to read it.
