We had an unbelievable outpouring of support from retailers for our event. First I would like to thanks Madness Games and Comics for going all out and donating booth space and setting up and tearing down. The whole Madness crew helped from beginning to end and all points in between. Here are some of the items Chris Mettler and Chris Hoberg (owners Madness Games) were responsible for, Two pieces of original framed and signed Stan Lee artwork from Spiderman, Master Replica Light Saber, Superman and Batman action figure, book and poster bundles, Umbrella Academy signed Litho and Munnies. We also used Chris’s truck to haul all our stuff around. Thank you Madness Games and comics for all your hard work and generosity!

Drew Seldin at Wizard Entertainment hooked us up with a boat load of Wizard Exclusive Toys and helped us advertise the live art show. Top Cow gave us a serious amount of variant comics and trades that we bundled and really got some great bids on. We can’t tell you guys how Top Cow’s support meant to us. Boom Studios have given a ton of comics, and I mean that literally! They have given almost a ton of comics.

Good guy Mark Hay over at SplashPage Comic Art threw in an original page of “Captain America: The Chosen” by Mitch Breitweiser. Lone Star comics and Chris Powell gave us a box full of great toys and action figures that made for great auction bundles. Museum Replicas donated a beautiful Magneto Helmet that Scott Hinze was seen wearing most of the day. The helmet helped us raise a lot of money for our cause! The Nobel Collection donated two awesome pieces of jewelry every Fanboy wants, The One Ring from LOTR and a Superman emblem ring that is awesome! The Dallas Cowboys sent us a signed pennant with hard to get signatures of head coach Wade Wilson and owner Jerry Jones. We received numerous other donations from retailers and we can’t tell you how much we appreciate you all.

First off I want to say thank you to all our sponsors and fantastic artists that made our Live Art Fundraiser a huge success! Jay Allison, CEO Comstock Resource was instrumental in getting us the Diamond Club, which I know you will all agree was spectacular. A special thanks goes out to Melissa Terry and her staff at the Diamond Club, as well as the Texas Rangers, for having a great dinner setup and taking care of us all night.
The real stars of the night were the artists who selflessly donated their time and talent to our event. Mark Hay, owner of SplashPage Comic Art, was instrumental in the success of our event. Not only did Mark facilitate the participation of three of comics hottest young artists, Mitch Breitweiser, Marko Djurdjevic, and Kristian Donaldson, but he also purchased a killer Daredevil piece for $1,150! Mitch Breitweiser, artist of “Captain America: The Chosen” created one of the most beautiful Captain America pieces I have ever laid eyes on. This piece is a must see! Breitweiser’s Cap artwork went for $1,200 two weeks before the piece was even created. Donor Jimmy Jeansonne contacted me and said he wanted Mitch’s first piece. Neither one of us had any idea that Mitch would produce a masterpiece. Marko Djurdjevic, Marvel Cover artist, may have had the most talked about piece of the night. Marko painted a Daredevil piece that really captured the anger and gritty determination that Daredevil should have. Marko is a rock star artist with a heart of gold and I think he is destined to be Marvel’s next Superstar. Kristian Donaldson, a second year H4H Live Art veteran, created a piece that I am told is already framed and hanging in the Tull House. Thanks so much for supporting us and participating for a second straight year Kristian!
Top Cow Productions anchored our event with Superstar Artist Marc Silvestri. Marc rocked out a beautiful cover quality “The Darkness” piece (check the pics on our site). Filip Sablik and Eric Basaldua also from Top Cow both produced great pieces as well.
James O’Barr pumped out two stunning pieces of art that really got the crowd excited. James’s artwork raised over $1,800 for H4H in our auction. Phil Hester made the Swamp Thing come alive and a lucky bidder walked away with a steal!
Brian Denham made every Fanboy happy with a beautiful Supergirl pastel. Art, Love, Magic a live art troupe that brought the house down with their larger than life pieces and interactive style. David Rodriguez had a constant crowd all night as he worked on a 8ft x 4ft plywood painting of Rogue vs. Juggernaut. Mike Logocki, co-founder of Art Love Magic really delivered by bringing ten artists that really rounded out our show. Brent Schoonover, creator of “Astronaut Dad” created a really cool “The Shadow” piece. Thanks everyone for all your support and we hope to see you again next year!

The First Annual Heroes4Heroes Live Art Auction after Wizard World Dallas was an outstanding success! Thanks to everyone who worked hard to put together this special event!
On November 11, 2006 Scott Hinze of Fanboy Radio introduced Hereos For Heroes to the world! I couldn’t think of a more fitting day than Veterans Day to announce a charity that benefits our troops. Heroes For Heroes works directly with members of the United States Military and the general public to provide portable media to active troops. Our primary goal is to amplify troop morale by keeping our men and women in uniform culturally tuned-in. We gather, organize, and send entertainment material such as comic books, DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, MP3 players, and game systems.
H4H was the collaboration of Dallas Pollei, Chris McCroskey and Scott Hinze. Great minds think alike and these three guys really wanted to do something for the people that do so much for us. H4H was the benficiary of Fanboy Radio’s 5-Year Birthday Bash, presented by the 2007 film, Bike_Gang! We had an incredible live art show with local artists Cal Slayton, Ben Hall, Brock Rizy, Tom Kurzanski and Kristian Donaldson knocking out some awesome pieces. We even had artists from the crowd, like painter Marc Wolfe, get in on the action with his Wolverine piece.
As the artists finished a piece it was brought to the fron where Emcee Scott Hinze auctioned them off. As you can see from the pictures the room was over flowing with fans and supporters. I would like to thank everyone who supported the show and made the event such a success. H4H raised over $1,000 on the night bringing it’s two week fundraising tally to just over $3,500! Check out http://www.heroes4heroes.org for more information and don’t forget to donate!
