“We’re very pleased, as we doubled the amount raised last year,” said Scott Hinze, a co-founder of H4H. “The auction, which was attended by close to 500 very generous supporters, brought in about $22,000, with an additional $2,000 raised through donations at our table on the convention floor.”

“The big draw to the auction was the live art show that was happening on both sides of the bidding,” Hinze said. “All around the room, talented artists were creating masterpieces that were then auctioned to the enthusiastic crowd. The top piece of the night was an unforgettable Captain America original by renowned cover artist Marko Djurdevic, which brought $3,700, followed by Lee Bermejo’s haunting Joker painting, which sold for $2,900. Of course, the really ‘big’ piece of the evening was the 9′ tall statue of the Incredible Hulk, generously donated by Marvel Comics, which went for the incredible price of $2,500.”

“This auction represents our one big fundraising event of the year,” Hinze said, “so we’re obviously ecstatic that it was such a success. This means that we’re going to be able to send that many more care packets to our men and women bravely serving overseas. We can’t thank everyone who participated enough.”

Hinze added, “This year alone, we’ve shipped over 3,000 care packets, 40,000 comics, 800 DVD’s and 500 books to American Soldiers all over the world and we’ve received praise from personnel of all ranks in the US Military, including Gen. This weekend we will be having our third Live Art Fundraiser!  Nov. 8th, 7:00pm at the Sheraton Arlington, Arlington TX (map) right next door to the Wizard World Texas Comic Convention.  If you have ever been to one of our previous Live Art shows you know how much fun they are and if you haven’t you should come and check it out.  Admission is free and you can bid on any piece of artwork that is produced along with other donations to H4H.  After the convention ends head on over to the Sheraton grab a drink at one of our two bars and get ready for some of the best artists in the business to wow you.  Be on the lookout for Mitch Breitweiser, Phil Hester, James O’Barr, Bill Tucci, Brian Denham, Eric “EBAS” Basuldua, Art Love Magic and many more great artists.  Check out this video from last year and don’t miss your chance to be a part of a great cause and support our troops!  Here are some pics from last years event.

We got a call from Lt. Commander Davin Wilson last Wednesday and he informed us that we needed to have the Hulk over at Carswell by Friday.  Not only did we deliver the Hulk on time we also brought a pallet of comics to go out with him.  Hulk and the comics are now on there way to Freedom Rest, an R&R facility outside of Baghdad.  Check out some of the pictures we took, http://tinyurl.com/6ys2fp
